Missions

Acts 1:8   But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

We plan mission trips for both adults and youth, locally and internationally, depending on the call of the Lord to our fellowship. In the past, we have ministered in Cuba, the Philippines, Mexico, Haiti, Pastor Kelso in Africa and several trips helping with clean up and restoration as a result of Hurricane Katrina in the south.

Locally, we serve at Faith Mission (downtown Columbus) monthly, providing a meal and the Word of God. 

Victory Ministries and Better Way Ministries are two more Columbus ministries we are privileged to work with, to provide needs such as school supplies, new winter coats and other items that may be of use to the community.  We also have members who volunteer their time regularly to these excellent organizations.

Recently, Pastor Kelso, his wife, and three other members of our congregation joined an interfaith group of Christians and Jews on an educational mission trip to Israel. Together they shared their common love for the Lord God of Israel and bonded together in this special encounter in the Land of Israel. It was a learning mission into the Jewish and Christian faiths, creating a greater understanding and respect for each other.  Besides the normal touring of Israel, they were involved with taking gifts to active Israeli troops and visiting hospitalized children with gifts and encouragement.  They visited a social service project for the elderly, Yad LaKashish, met with Ethiopian Jewish immigrants and on Holocaust Memorial Day participated in a ceremony honoring those who were murdered.  It was a joy to join the people of Jerusalem in celebrating Israel's 61st Birthday.

A trip to Israel in October of 2010 is now in the planning.  We are using Keshet, the Center for Educational Tourism in Israel, as our tour hosts.  Anyone interested in this trip should contact Pastor Kelso at the church.
